About Us

Who We Are:

We here at Midway identify as a part of the church established by Jesus Christ proceeding His death on the cross. Jesus promised to bring about a “kingdom”. Mark 9:1 speaks to its nearness. This kingdom was established upon His death, burial, and resurrection where He was given authority over the kingdom (Acts 2:36). This kingdom is the church we identify with today.

What We Believe:

Being a part of Christ’s church, we believe first and foremost that Jesus Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18). With that authority, Christ, our head, has given us an inspired Book that we aim to base our lives upon. The Bible contains a story from cover to cover that points to one key figure: Jesus Christ. His life, death, burial, and resurrection are all crucial to our faith (1 Corinthians 15:14-19). The importance of Jesus rests with the incomprehensible love that was shown to us by His sacrifice (Ephesians 2:4-5; Ephesians 3:18-19). While our sins separated us from God in Genesis 3, Jesus Himself has given us the opportunity to mend that relationship with God by His life, death, burial, and resurrection. We believe Scripture is clear on how to mend that relationship with the Lord:

  • Hear – Romans 10:17; Matthew 7:24-27
  • Believe – Hebrews 11:6; Mark 16:15-16
  • Confess – Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:36-37
  • Repent – Acts 2:38; 17:30; Luke 13:3
  • Be Baptized (full-immersion) – Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 8:36-38; Romans 6:1-11; 1 Peter 3:21
  • Be Committed – Revelation 2:10

What to Expect:

The Christians that meet here at Midway engage in acts of orderly worship prescribed by inspired authors of the Bible. We have a designed worship service that we participate in every first day of the week, and Bible study that we have once on Sunday and again Wednesday evenings. Both were practiced by the first century church.

If planning on attending a worship service, be prepared to witness the following as we have been given authority to practice:

  • Congregational Singing (Ephesians 5:19-20; Colossians 3:16) – Our singing does not employ the usage of instruments, but instead our hearts as we “make melody in our hearts” to the Lord.
  • Prayers (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18; James 5:16) – Our prayers are not ritualistic or memorized creeds, but sincere and genuine pleas to the Lord with thanksgiving for His many blessings.
  • Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29) – We make sure to commemorate the death of our Savior each first day of the week until He comes again. Be prepared to reflect on what Jesus went through to grant us salvation.
  • Collection (1 Corinthians 16:1-2) – The members of the church are responsible to give back a portion that each member purposes to the church. This collection is used, as deemed by the elders, to carry on the work of this congregation and support other churches, if possible. Visitors should not feel compelled to contribute, as this is a responsibility for our members, but give as they see fit.
  • Biblically Backed Lesson (Acts 2; 9:20; 20:7) – A lesson developed from God’s inspired Word is presented each week for us to consider. This is done for encouragement, correction, and edification (2 Timothy 4:2).
